Kanipura Sri Gopalakrishna Temple is one of the most revered temples in northern Kerala, located in the historic town of Kumbla in Kasaragod district. Dedicated to Lord Gopalakrishna (a form of Lord Krishna), this temple holds immense spiritual and cultural importance for devotees in the region.

The temple is believed to be over a thousand years old and is associated with several legends from the Dvapara Yuga. It is said that the idol of Lord Krishna worshipped here was installed by the sage Kanva Maharishi, giving the place its name “Kanipura.” The deity is worshipped in the form of a young Krishna, holding a butterball.

Major Festivals
Kumble Bedi Festival:This is the most famous and grand festival celebrated at the temple, usually held annually in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March).
Ashtami Rohini (Krishna Janmashtami):Celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, this festival features special prayers, devotional songs, and cultural programs centered around the life and deeds of Lord Krishna.
