It is situated at an elevation of approximately 750 meters above sea level and is known for its lush greenery, dense forests, and diverse wildlife. The Ranipuram Hills offer breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and forests. The area is covered with evergreen shola forests, grasslands, and teak plantations. It is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, deer, monkeys, and various species of birds. The sanctuary is also famous for its wide range of medicinal plants.
Trekking is a popular activity in Ranipuram Hills, and there are several trekking trails that lead to the hilltop. The most popular trekking route starts from Panathady, a village located at the foothills. The trail takes you through dense forests, streams, and grasslands, offering a wonderful experience for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.
Apart from trekking, visitors can also enjoy picnicking, bird watching, and photography in Ranipuram Hills. There is a viewpoint called Ranipuram View Point, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. It is an ideal spot to capture stunning photographs and enjoy the serene beauty of the place.
To reach Ranipuram Hills, you can travel to Kasaragod town, which is well-connected by road and rail networks. From Kasaragod, it takes around 55 kilometers to reach Ranipuram. Private taxis and buses are available for transportation to the sanctuary.
